Installing fresh water tank

We just bought a 1968 Airstream Globetrotter and it is completely missing the fresh water tank (we were aware of this). As far as we can tell from the owner's manual and inlet pipe, the tank should go under the front goucho. Is this correct? I was going to have my brother weld a stainless steel tank to fit in the space, but i'm unsure of what the dinensions should be. Is there a better way, such as one that is already built and will fit right in?

We have the original water tank for your trailer.

Providing a serial number will assure that you have a 68.

Tanks are different for each year.

We are very excited...two questions though...

Where can we find the serial number? I saw somewhere that some airstreams list the serial on the front, behind the LPG tanks...

How much would the tank cost (incl. shipping)?

The serial number plate is forward of the door and below the window, "IF" you have a 68 trailer.

That number should start off as "O208 followed by an "S" or "J" followed by three numbers.

I believe you are correct...i remember seeing one there. The airstream is not right here, so it may take me a couple days to get it. I'll let you know ASAP.

Thanks for being so patient while we located our serial number!
There were two sets of numbers under the window: D129 FH and 0208J587. Hopefully your tank is for our globetrotter. Let us know if we've got a match.
