Happy campers with our first season using the Clearsource Ultra system

We recently changed out our filters and wanted to share a photo of the rust filter from our Clearsource Ultra system after 100 nights scattered about campgrounds in the Northern tier states and Southern Ontario. We're not sure if that was the result of one nasty night in one nasty place, or of accumulated gunk from 6 months worth of travel, but we're glad we had it!

We used the system in-line whenever we filled the freshwater tank or hooked up to city water and we're glad we did. We never noticed any bad taste, odors, or rust inside the trailer, even in places where the water in the bathrooms was iron-stained and smelled like sulfur.

This is one of many upgrades, modifications, and purchases we made after researching it on this forum. We'll try and make a list of all of them and post it over the holidays. We're grateful to have this amazing resource. Thank you all!

Clearsource Ultra system mounting location

Jeff_Cheryl,

I have a 2016 27' and I think is is similar to your 2024 27'.

Where did you mount the filter system? Under the wardrobe where the water inlet is located?

Any pictures?

Thanks in advance!

Hi gblackburn. We didn't mount it, the filter system is a stand-alone unit that we hook up outside the trailer whenever we use it. Sorry, but I don't have any pictures. We bought the Ultra model and Clearsource has good pictures and info on their website (https://www.clearsourcerv.com/collec...filter-systems). We also bought the Weatherguard to carry it and provide a little protection riding in the back of the truck (https://www.clearsourcerv.com/collec...-weatherguards).

We looked into some of the other models mentioned in the forum that looked good. Some were mounted under sinks and cabinet, too. This one seemed like a good fit for us.

Thanks for that clarification. I was trying to figure out how you got something of that size under the wardrobe where water enters. Makes perfect sense now.

Looks like a nice solution. Thanks for sharing.

Good choice! When you dig in the specs for the Camco blue bullet that many people use (which are suspiciously hard to find) the filtration level is really weak - almost useless. After looking at Clearsource and being a DIY hacker I built my own modeled on their design. It was significantly cheaper - I just had to figure out how to mount it. I ended up rigging something together from the big plastic bin of "stuff I hang onto because it might be useful some day". It hangs from the rear bumper of my AS.

Has anyone looked at the "Fit RV 3-in-1 Filter"? It was just released this month (DEC 2024). It looks like it will do what I want (three stages) with a single cartridge. I have been using the Camco in-line filter which is a really good sediment filter and not much more.

Here is the website. If it works then great. But if it's is merely a gimmicky product I would prefer to pass.
