Fresh water tank sensor bad? shows empty but tank is full

we just left for a trip and arrived at our destination.

I filled up the fresh water tank full at home, the monitor shows 100%. but half way through when we stopped for fuel, the tank shows empty. I drove some more and it's back again at proper level. it just goes between full and empty.

maybe a loose connection ? or cold weather?

it's about 15F outside now. tank heater is on

Yes a loose connection. Perhaps on the panel or where the sensor is spliced in or in the wire run between them. The panel is not too hard to look at. The rest involve getting access to the fresh tank. Some models have access through the floor under the street side cabinets. You might check the panel, if its not that consider having it repaired under warranty. Your call.

It seems to be fine again during the day. Definitely something to do with the cold I guess. Maybe on the outside.

Another problem, the water heater stopped working. It says “fault, cycle & clear”

I'm not familiar with the Interstates too much, what is the heater model? I'd cycle power and see if the fault clears. probably have to shut of both 12V and 120V. With the model I can go find a service manual.

I’m trying to find out the model too but it’s not in the manual. It says “6 gallon with elec element” in the parts list. It says “suburban” on the outside of the van

I’m pretty sure it’s the Suburban IW60 on demand
The owners manual is way outdated

So if it is the gas only tankless IW60, I'm confused cuz the service manual indicate fault codes E0-E9 but no text fault descriptions.

There’s no fault code display on the c zone panel. It’s triggered by a wire from the heater and tells the c zone it has an error

For actual error code you have to look at the heater

I didn’t bring any tools with me this time. I guess I’ll live with ice cold water for now

If it is an IW60 there is a manual reset button on the ECO switch inside the left panel near the upper right.

It somehow magically reset itself and it’s working again.
