Fresh Water Tank, Safe and Snug
I have heard reports of the occasional Fresh Water tank dislodging from underneath. That would of course be a nightmare for anyone! Also there has been lots of discussion whether to travel with a full or partial fresh water tank. Well, I have done 35,000 miles in our 2021 27' Flying Cloud in the last 18 months and next trip will be 7000-8000 miles through Maine, then the Atlantic Eastern provinces of Canada. Lots of boondocking in remote locations and 100's of miles of gravel highway on the Tran-Labrador highway as well. We always travel with full or near full fresh water.
So I decided to shore it up with a couple of aluminum straps and square U-bolts from Lowes. I have seen what some others have done and wanted to share this simple solution. I did use some 3/4" wide weather stripping on the 1-1/2" wide straps to prevent the aluminum straps from constantly rubbing directly and wearing the belly pan of the tank. Less than $50, and no more worries!
