Fresh water tank desgin

I'm getting ready to order a fresh water tank. I also need a fresh water fill to install in the side of the trailer. I'm looking for some input there. That will dictate the size for the fill opening in the tank.

I also need a vent that will go out the trailer side as well. Any ideas?

So the tank would have a 1/2" output at the bottom to feed my pex line to the water pump. I plan to tee off the tank output to a drain valve that goes to the pump.

So, one fill input probably 1" fitting, 1 vent input at the top 1/2", and one output on the bottom 1/2". If I can't find a vent connection for the side of the trailer, can I vent out the bottom of the trailer?

This is an above floor tank under the front window. Is 25 gallons enough?

We have a 15 gallon tank, and would like another 10. I would call 25 a miminum, can you get and fit a 30 there?

A vent to the floor will need some sort of flapper valve to keep bugs, etc from working their way into your tank.

Ideally the vent would exit at the same place as the fill.

My setup is just like Fyrzowt's posts. My 75 TW has a 45 Gallon tank which is plenty. I wish my holding tanks could hold that much as well.

My grey tank is about 27 gallons and the black is about 20.

What I really need are some leads on some nice water fill and vents that I can add.

Tim,

I was able to fit a 28gal tank behind the gaucho. I used 1 1/2" vent & fill connections at both ends of the tank. Haven't decided yet which will be the inlet and which will be the vent. I will reuse the original inlet, and on the opposite side there was a police radio antenna which I will convert into a vent.

Be cautious if you run the vent through the floor. Besides the problem with spiders, you need to avoid creating a siphon.

In addition to the pump outlet, I added a separate 1/2" drain in the bottom of the tank so I can drain it completely dry in the winter. I also pitched the tank 3/4" toward the outlet end.
