Fresh Water Tank and City Water ???

A nubie question here, I am in the process of building out the shell of a trailer and am designing the fresh water system, I am a competent plumber, but what I do not understand is the city water inlet vs the fresh water tank and how they work together.

My questions are :

1. How do you go about using the city pressure vs the tank and pump ? Is there a valve / cut off or something I am missing ?

2. If so any suggestions on what inlet is best

3. Does anyone have a plumbing system drawing or design that they would be willing to share ?

T each system has a check or one way valve so that when using either system water does not flow backwards. The water pump has an internal check valve so that city water pressure does not feed back into the potable(fresh) water tank. The city water inlet mounted on the side of the coach also has a check valve attached so that when using the water pump and potable water tank water does not flow backwards through the city water inlet connection.

You can if you desire build into the system a potable water tank fill option. That would require a manually operated valve. Then when connected to the city water you could switch the valve and fill the potable water tank easily before travelling.

What I did was to install the city water inlet with a presser reg in behind or after the 12v pump.
works fine.
