Hi
I would worry a bit about a combination of that device and a bit of debris in the tiny vent line creating an overpressure situation .....

Our 67 originally had a hose that was fished thru a hole in the floor that also had the shore power cord run thru the same hole when camped.
The hole had liner that was, from all apperances a 3 inch or so drain pipe. I believe it had a cap on it to keep critters out while not in use.
This is where the hose would have been attached for city water.
I eliminated that hole when the subfloor was replaced and put the city water, hose attachment right below the fresh water tank fill, up front by the propane tanks.
It has all worked perfectly!
I hope you find your Airstream !😃😃

Hod the hose
Don't put the hose into the opening! Trust me. I learned the hard way. The tank will blow op like a balloon. No one ever told me this, and I ruptured the tank and it required replacement to the tune of about $1100 back in 2016.

Water tank fill
Hi-Here's a picture of our 1990 Airstream Motorhome water fill.
The vent is to the right of the fill.
We use the exact hose extension that BGClassic is showing in post #9 except I had to cut a 45 degree angle at the tip of hose in order for it to slide all the way in therefor I don't have to hold the hose while filling.

I have a 2012 FC 30RBQ and we love it. As others have said, I just stick the hose into the fill port, turn the water on and wait for it to overflow. It spills on the ground but no big deal.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. We're on the way to look at it. Since it is at a fairly large dealership I suspect that there will be a parts store there, and one of those hose adapters and/or a flow meter may join us on the way home.

Water damage caused by water hose
Hey friend. I witnessed first hand an older couple taking on water to their (older) AS at a rally. As I waited patiently to fill our tank, I witnessed a gentleman filling his fresh tank with a hose being held in place within the fill mouth. He went about his business around his AS as the tank was filling. He had the spigot cranked wide open.
Many minutes elapsed until the water started jetting outside of the fill hole, past the hose. I thought, no harm, right? Well, that night while we were all enjoying dinner at the rally, I noticed (they were parked next to us) that water was pouring outside below his camper!
Come to find out shortly thereafter, he had a pipe rupture within his AS.
I learned a valuable lesson that night from someone else’s misfortune: NEVER FILL YOUR FRESH TANK WITH THE HOSE PLACED WITHIN THE WATER OPENING. Stay with it, ready to pull it away when you hear the water rising in the neck of the plumbing.

Never ever use a garden hose stuffed into the fresh water tank.
Use a fresh water filler attachment. Our AS came with one.
The garden hose alone can sometimes fill the tank faster than the vent can release pressure and the tank will inflate. Bummer if the water source has high pressure

I assumed they do it this way to avoid contaminating the fresh water system by allowing a dirty hose to be inserted down into it.
At the city-water connection point we can physically screw the hose into a fitting on the side of the trailer. But there is a pressure regulator there to protect the fresh water system.
As for not having a screw fitting at the fresh water tank fill, that would seem risky to physically connect municipal water without having a pressure regulator between the hose fitting and the trailer’s fresh water system.

I used a short section of brass tubing, about 3/8 inch diameter from a tank sprayer used in gardening etc. I attached this tubing to a washing machine fill hose that has female fittings on both ends. Replace and re-use your used washing machine hoses, they come in handy. Just hack off one of the ends and shove the brass tubing in that end, secure with the proper hose clamp. Size is good, works great, bend the tubing carefully if needed to insert down your fresh water inlet

I must be lucky! 4 different model AS's in 20 years; always fill the fresh water tank with the garden hose inserted in the fill opening, also using an inline water filter, with no issues. I don't turn full blast, and like some mentioned, I leave the hose inserted in the fill opening, while doing other chores around the AS. Many times I am there before it completes filling and I hear the "gurgling" sound as it is almost full, but I have also had the water rushing out because I missed checking status inside. But, never had any follow up leaks in the system.
