Exterior Drain Question

There is a outside water drain installed on the front left corner of my 1969 Overlander. It is located underneath the water pump.

What is it for?

why does water drain out of it when I turn on my water pump?

I am trying to diagnose my water system (this is my first RV). I see water going through the water filter...

(I think the clear bulb thingy is a water filter).

...but water never makes it to the kitchen sink.

please note: water makes it to the kitchen sink when I have city water connected.

That should be the drain for your water tank. Next to the water pump should be a valve with a hose going down through the belly. Close it, and the water will not drain when you turn on the water pump.

Low point drain

Sounds like a low-point drain for winterizing the trailer. Close the valce on it and you should have pressure to the sink.

thanks for the advice!

it is indeed a drain with a valve on either side. one for the water tank and the one for the city water (I think)

thanks again!!
