Drinking water hose storage

How do you store your fresh water hose when your trailer is in storage? Do you connect the ends together? Do you store it in a bag? Just trying to figure out how to keep it clean. Thanks.

Hi, I hold the hose up letting all of the water run out as I roll it up; Then I connect the ends and put it in my storage compartment.

Best to air dry in the sun first, if possible, then coil and connect ends . . . avoids "petri dish" growth of bugs in inside IMO.

Mo' bettah . . . buy a new hose each Spring and retire the old one for yard work etc.. [and new inline filter]

Hang outside in the sun until dry then connect ends. When getting ready to camp, flush with clean water then pack in trailer. I have a whole house filter that I remove the filter and air dry also, install new filter at the start of season.

We use to zeroG for potable water and keep everything for fresh water in a clear plastic storage box

I use the Zero-G hose with quick release fittings, so I snap the ends together when stored. So far no science projects have grown in the hose. I do try to drain the hose as I'm picking it up, but no drying time.

We tried the usual white w/blue stripe RV hose's. However found a better and easier to use and store product. It is called "Handi-Hose" 50'. Comes in 25' and 50', we have 2-50' reels. They are a woven cloth hose on it's own hose reel. Super light and compact for storage. The best hoses for our use that I have found.

When you disconnect and reel the hose onto the plastic carrier/hose reel all the water squeegee's out and rolls up flat, then it's ready to store away.

I think we purchased ours at the near by Camping World store a few years ago. You might try RV upgrades .com

We use the curly spring hoses with brass quick-connects for our drinking water connection. we drain them when disconnecting and out them in the rear bumper storage compartment. Shame on us, we don't connect the ends or anything.

I use standard white RV hose....drain after use...screw ends together ....and keep in storage box. Very interested in the Zero-G that several have mentioned here...always learning something new!....LOL

We got the zero G after reading about it here. It is smaller and lighter and easier to wrestle. Has lasted through 2 seasons so far no troubles.

We do our best to drain as dry as possible and then store in a plastic container with a lid. Container goes in our outside storage locker area.

I’m going shopping for the Zero G today!

I used to connect the ends of my white hose until I noticed a growth in one of the ends last time. Good thing I had a new blue colored fresh water hose waiting in the wings. I replace the blue water filter 2x a year too so I’m not sure if the growth is from connecting the ends together or just crappy water from the previous campsite.

Another Zero G user here. I just coil it up and toss it in the rear storage drawer. I dont connect the ends. I figure unconnected it may dry better and connected it may promote some kinda growth I dont want.

At the beginning of the season, I put bleach solution in the hose and connect the ends for a few hours to sanitize it.

Use zero g hose and roll up in a hose caddy. Use quick connect fittings. I also have a hose with a filter that attaches to portable softener. I just put them on top of hose caddy away from other potential bacteria. My guess is that if you took a bacteria test on water there would be a problem. Thus We typically take drinking water with us in big bottles.

Looking at Zero G hoses online, there is no mention of them being drinking water grade. The are just listed as garden hoses. Is that a problem?

The Zero-G RV & Marine hose is drinking water safe. Which brings up another question, how many actually drink, brush teeth and cook with water from the camp site as opposed to using bottled water?

I’ve got a large dual filter for all water coming in to the trailer and a small under sink filter in the kitchen for drinking/cooking water.

I drink the water from the tap or tank, the wife drinks from store bought jugs. Occasionally we find a campground where even after three filters (two of which are carbon) the water tastes a bit funky, so we’ll use only bottled water at that point.
