Draining water at campground

Our friend purchased a 16’ Scamp. It is recommended to drain the fresh water tank 12gallons prior to towing to decrease the chance of sway. The tanks are located at the far rear behind the axle. He asked if he can drain the tanks via the drain valve...similar to our drain valve between our wheels. Will it be frowned upon at campsites?

Thumbs up

Assuming the water is clean . . . "drive and drain" IMO.

Actually this is a good way to get a head start on winterizing the trailer for the winter. Open that drain, all the low-point drains, the water heater drain plug, and all the faucets.

After a few miles . . . 95% of the job is done, with no need for antifreeze, and only minimal compressed air IMO. The pump and filter require some attention.

KISS
