"City Water" vs "Exterior Water Service" Hookup
I'm dealing with a leak from what looks like the fresh water tank area under the closet in our 31' 2008 Classic. When I hook up to "City Water" is when the waterworks start but when I hook up to "Exterior Water," nothing. No water in the trailer at all but I do hear water flowing a little in the bathroom sooo what is this suppose to be used for? The manual says this hookup goes into the high pressure water system of the trailer and the shutoff valve is located in the bathroom cabinet. I haven't used the trailer in a few years. Anyone know what I'm missing?

Hi
Do you also have an input for "fresh water tank fill"?

I do have a inlet on the passenger side for filling the water tank. I'm wondering if the "Exterior Water Service" might just be for cleaning the black water tank, although it doesn't describe it as thus in the manual.

"City Water" vs "Exterior Water Service" Hookup
First pic L-R
City water hose connection. This supplies fresh water to trailer.
Hose bib. This allows you to connect a hose and use trailer water from city or pump.
No Fuss Flush. This is a connection to flush the black tank. Used when draining or flushing tank. You cannot connect and walk away from it as it’s filling the black tank.
Why is the No Fuss Flush labeled EXTERIOR WATER?
Second pic.
Open door, remove cap and this open connection fills the fresh water tank. Fill, shut off supply, cap and lock door.

I've never heard that called "Exterior Water" That connection is for flushing the black tank. If you leave it connected too long it will overflow through the toilet in to the bathroom. That's why you can hear water running.

Hi
I agree that the "exterior water" connection is in exactly the right place to be the black tank flush. That would explain the noise in the bathroom when you hook it up ( = spraying the inside of the black tank ...).

Actually if you leave the black tank flush running it doesn’t flood the bathroom (unless your ball valve leaks). What happens is the tank fills and then the water heads up the tank vent turning your Airstream into the world’s shiniest fountain.
Watched my sister-in-law do it with her brand new trailer back in 2008. I was parked next to her…

Ha! Unless you get to pondering how your flush job is doing and dane to have a peek down the toilet. I did that when we first got the trailer as well. Boy did I have egg on my face!

I believe the hose bib is actually called the "exterior water" connection and over were you have "exterior water" label is the black tank flush.

If you have one of the AS with the bathroom sink connected to black tank it will come up through the sink, also with combined gray/black tank it will flood the trailer.

Thanks for the breakdown. I hadn't used the trailer in so long, but I do remember the "No Fuss Flush" now. Luckily I only ran it for a minute.
I labelled it based on airstream manual, which I referred to when my memory failed. I think the "Hose bib" should be labelled "Exterior Water." Anyway, it's all sorted and I appreciate the replies!
