City Inlet Water Leak Into Tank

Hello,

I have a 2007 Safari 20' Special Edition. When I hook up to the City Water Inlet, I noticed that the Fresh Water Tank fills up after a couple of days. I think there is a check valve in the water pump that is leaking.

Is the solution to replace the Water Pump?

Are there any other possibilities?

Thanks so much,
Maikel

The pump valves have failed. Not un-common. The pump needs to be replaced. I had the same problem. I put a check valve in the line after the pump to keep the pump from seeing city pressure.

If you have an Safari SE LS, you probably have the Aquajet pump. They make a repair kit, but assuming you are under warranty, your dealer can fix it for you....

Same thing happened to me a year or so ago:

I'll be having my Aquajet replaced this summer in Jackson Center. Same problem, but mine also starts up and runs for no reason, and you have to manually power it off.

Randy,
do you have wet spot under your trailer? if so, you have a leak in your plumbing somewhere. that will causethe pump to cycle

The wet spot is under the Fresh Tank overflow when connected to city water. There is a constant trickle of water there.

The pump will start and run with no faucets on. I've looked everywhere for leaks, and can't find any. If it runs long enough it seems to pump air into the lines, and makes a heck of a racket. You have to open all the faucets at once to clear the air and stop the noise. I discussed this with the Airstream Tech at the FL State Rally and he said both problems are caused by the check valve leaking.

My Classic did this when brand new. On our first trip out I noticed that the fresh water tank was slowly filling. The fix was to replace the pump under warranty.

We are still under warranty until December, which is why I'm having it replaced on my way back from Bozeman this year.

I have all new insulated type L copper plumbing but anyway I created a shut-off for the water pump system so no matter what the pump's problem is water will not flow into the water tank

I did the same , nothing like on/off for simple control.
BTW nice choice in AS , not many around.
