27FB fresh tank upgrade to 54.5 gal?

I have a 2010 27FB International. I have a leak in the fresh water tank (39 gal.) and will need to replace it. Since the 27FB Classic is the same floor plan but has a 54.5 gal it seems logical that I could upgrade to this larger tank when I replace it. Airstream and dealers have been no help in determining if this is possible. Dealers will only do a direct replacement - creativity is not one of their assets.
What I know so far is:
The part number for the 54.5 gal. tank is 601864-01
The part number for my original 39 gal. tank is 601863-01
The tank cover / pan part number for both tanks is 601620
Is there anyone out there in Airforums that might have some insight about how to find out if this is possible.
