ZipDee Awning Repairs

Need repair on my awning which slammed up and now will not pull down. Factory indicates it is likely in the forward end locking/ratchet mechanism.

Anyone know of a nearby good repair facility that I could take it to. I am in northern Michigan.

Give Zip Dee a call. When we broke our rafter claw, they were excellent to work with. I suspect you would get a good recommendation from them.

You may be able to repair it yourself. First, call ZD and get the correct part shipped, then follow their instructions. If I recall correctly, it is pretty straightforward. If I am remembering incorrectly, this is a great place to be told so.

Basically, it involves drilling out the rivets holding the end in place. Then, unrolling the awning and resting the bar on a ladder, securing the bar so it does not roll back up. This is a good spot for a friend's helping hand. And unsolicited advice for sport.

Install the end by riveting the new one in place. The awning should be now able to roll up to the store position.
