Zip dee unlock thingy
I don't have the extension rod that unlocks the awning from the Argosy. It's a simple aluminum rod about 4 feet long, where can I get a replacement?
I'm in Seattle.
Thanks
Dan

I would just call Zip Dee and have them UPS it to you. They are real good people to deal with.

I never use rod scratched AS when slipped also can't get tight enough. Just do as I and others do use 2 step stool or as example one from amazon that is plastic will hold over 200 lbs. snaps open and close folds flat fits in closet. Can get wheel tight with out chance of coming loose plus much easier. You can also pur. alum. rod bend el on one end. some also use small fold flat ladder.

I use a 5 gal bucket for a ladder to reach the front, entry steps will access the back one.
Some Airstream dealers carry the awning wand in stock.

I bought a small, foldable aluminum step from Harbor Freight. It holds up 350 lbs and folds small enough to stow away in a small space. I use it to step on and get just enough height to unscrew or tighten the wheels that hold the awning in place by hand. Good luck!

Puller
I too never use it for ulocking the round knob. I also use a ladder. I do use one for pulling out the awning strap. You can buy I think it is a king pin puller fron most local truck stops. Mine is aluminum, Airstream blue and does the job. I actually cut it a little shorter and re-bent the end so it fits in my storage behind the stove. It also has a handle on the end you hold.

King pin puller is excellent for pulling strap to extend awning.

Never scratched Mjolnir using the ZipDee deploy tool. I rounded the sharp corners to help minimize potential.
Get a stout folding aluminum ladder.. like they mention above. Less likely to tip over.
One of the release tools are ok... but too heavy which may make it easier to damage trailer skin. But it is strong enough!!

The Zip Dee tool is the same tool as any awning rod.
Should be readily available at any RV dealer.

Interesting to read the comments about scratching the Airstream. The Zip-Dee pull rod that came with my 2017 Airstream has thick plastic coverings on both ends, so it can't scratch. Guess Zip-Dee got smart. :-)

And when that wore out after a couple of years, I used red shrink wrap of the appropriate size,

My rod also had plastic coating both ends but end to turn wheels came off slipped out of wheels made several long scratches both end when trying to to tighten so they will scratch and on my rod coating was only on bend not on tip, plus coating on big u en. I only use to pull strap use stool to turn wheels.

The red plastic thing falls off pretty quickly.
I still don't scratch the Airstream.
If I slip it hits somewhere on the awning arm or tube.
