Zip Dee - Tropic Room Screen Enclosure
Wondering if anybody has any experience w/this product from Zip Dee? We have a '08 Intl/FB 25' Ocean Breeze we would like to install this on.
Thanks,
Beth & Joe

Beth & Joe,
I have also been considering the solar shade or possibly the screen enclosure but have not been impressed with the mounting procedures. Most awning tubes have a slot in the awning tube which allows quick mounting of the solar shade but not the Zip Dee. I spoke to the Zip Dee people several weeks ago and was told that I would have to drill holes for snaps to mount the Zip Dee product. I found someone that had done this installation and found that over time the snaps cause wear marks on the awning each time it is retracted. While I am very happy with my Zip Dee awning I wish there were an easier way to add accessories like the solar shade, the room enclosure or even those tacky lights that many of us like to use.

We "sprung" for the solar shade last Summer. Yes...I agree whole-heartedly w/the comments you made regarding the mounting method. No slot...drilled holes for the snaps. I can now picture over time, that the snaps can cause wear marks on the awning. After roughly six months of use. It does show signs of wear on the awning.

Storms
When the wind comes up hard or a storm is coming in getting the awning down is my number one priority. With a screen room.... problem. There are SO many available screen rooms in the $200 range - I'd get a separate one. If a storm destroyed it, so be it.
It's also much less expensive than the attached A/S screen room.
Just an opinion.... Paula

I knew that was going to get a rise out of folks! I have to agree, there's nothin' prettier than a shiny Airstream all decked out in party lights...

Initial cost and the possibility of it getting destroyed in a storm...I believe a separate enclosed room would be the best alternative.
Wacky lights...hmmm...I've kinda grown attached to ours.
Thanks for all the input.
