Zip Dee Repair

I have a large white & blue striped Zip Dee awning that needs repair. I was cleaning the awning/drying it out when it was hit with a micro burst of wind. The awning fabric split down the middle (north to south) along the seam. It appears that it just needs to be sewn back together along the seam(everything else appears to be all right). Any suggestions as to who/where I might have this work done? Thanks,

Montanaandy

I would look for a truck tarp shop first and then a boat cover shop next in the yellow pages. They are typically small business men but, with a commercial sewing machine, they should be able to do the job.

I have never removed an awning. Understand it can be a pain.

The awning is actually not that hard to work on..Armed with a few simple tools and, a drill and a pop rivet gun is about all you need to work on it.
The biggest challenge is the "charging" of the awning's spring after you've completed the work.
It's rather surprising but, the internal works are the same for all sizes except for the number of turns you use to charge the spring.
Just be careful in doing this one aspect of the operation because, if it gets away from you...you could get hurt...

Other great info is found under this thread and, the people at Zip Dee are top drawer to work with as well~!!
