LOL…. I unplugged the power supply to mine. Maybe I need to zip tie it too. It’ll look good going down the road. Zip ties hanging off a product are always a good indicator of quality. :-)

Yep...even the manual Zip Dee needs peace of mind help.

Thanks. I usually have a cordless drill along, so I’ll make sure I have the right size socket with me.
Thanks
My 2020 Globetrotter didn't have the upgrade for the manual recall of the power awning... so possible yours doesn't either?

Thanks, I. Guessing not. I just have the little bag with the items needed to retract it. I’ve never even looked in the bag. Luckily ours hasn’t given us too much trouble.

2023 Globetrotter Zip Dee Awning

We have only used our electric awning a couple of times and it will not go all the way out or in. We called Zip Dee on the phone and they walked my husband through it and no luck getting it to retrac. We took it in to the dealer and they are saying it's the batteries and they are only 50% charged. We were told they can't replace them, we have to deal with the dealer that sold it to us or directly with Airstream. The batteries are very expensive. Over 500.00. We have had so many problems with this 2023 that we never had with our other airstreams. Of course they were Flying Clouds. A lot of money to pay for all these problems. Anyone else have this problem?

We have a 2023 Globetrotter as well. We have had some minor issues, but nothing like this regarding the awning. You may already know this but just a few tips on the power awning:
1. Never turn the red power switch off while the awning is deployed. This will cause big problems from what I'm told. Only turn it off when the awning is fully closed.
2. Before pressing open to deploy, always press the close button first. (even though the awning may be fully closed). This resets the board so it knows the closed position(don't ask why , I have no idea, but it works)
3. Batteries do need to be fully charged or close to fully charged. It takes a good bit of juice to open & close. Are you trying to use the awning on shore power? If not, then you may want to try it while plugged in & make sure your converter is working correctly. Then follow steps 1 & 2 above and see what happens.

Prior to this trailer, we had an International with power awning. We had problems with open/close as you describe. Turns out it was a pinched wire causing a short in the rear arm due to incorrect installation. Dealer replaced the motor & arm and it worked fine since.

I’ve had to get out my generator in the past to get the awning to work. We switched to lithium batteries, and haven’t had any problems since then. I hope that’s all it is with yours. Our 2020 Globetrotter has been pretty much trouble free.

I might have written this post myself. We have had nothing but problems with our ‘works one minute but not the next’ awning. It won’t deploy before 9 and won’t close after. About 2 pm. Then next morning after 9 it will close! Plenty of power. The control box, like yours, is all but inaccessible under the bed. The wires going to it are so short you can’t even look at it properly. The box is all scratched and I am beginning to wonder if it is a reconditioned one, saving Airstream money. There is no way to secure it to anything in there. It needs rewiring. It’s not their only shoddy workmanship. So far a piece of wood fell down under the sink. There is a zig zag of glue that has never made contact with anything. Also the panel attaching the fire extinguisher by the door fell off. Why? Two thin staples had held it in. We fixed with screws. Several trims were held with the same staples and have come apart.

I located the clear plastic Zee Dee controller box adrift in a compartment under the starboard bed, next to the hot water heater, “resting” unsecured in a birds nest of wires. Clearly it was only a matter of time before the delicate wiring routed into this controller box parted from its connector. Nothing was secure in this pitiful factory install.

Now it’s up to the Airstream dealer to fix the shoddy work of their factory next week.

I wish this was a manual awning. I have lost all confidence in its reliability. If you have had better luck with yours I would like to know that my experience is not typical.
