Pardon the innocent question: what were you trying to achieve?

I don't like ducking under or going around the awning arms when they are attached to the side of the trailer. Much nicer to walk out my door, turn left and walk to the front of the trailer unobstructed.

Not trying to rain on your new mounting system but it looks like the awning fabric and slats are not pulled out tight enough. Does it shed water OK this way? Also, have you seen marks where the slats lay on the exterior skin due to movement in light wind?

It's a bit loose but it's that way in any event, probably due to it being 24 plus years old. I lower the back end a notch and water runs off Ok. No marks on the body - yet.
