zip-dee awning question

our 69 doesn't and appears to never have had an awning installed but its something pretty high on our wish list. The closest dealer according to their website is 200 plus miles away from us. I'm wondering if anyone has purchased one recently and could give us an ball park of what a new one would cost. Ours is a 69 25' tradewind. Also would entertain a used awning if one existed in reasonable condition that would fit (or is it more likely to win the lottery?).

thanks for your help

Give AS of Spokane a Call. I beleive that is probably your closest dealer.
You may also want to use the search function. It turned up many threads on Zip Dee.

I bought one for my 75 TW 2 years ago. It cost me about $1400 delivered to my home. Prices have gone up several times since then as has the shipping. I ordered mine from Inland RV. Forums member Lewster can also order one for you as well. Install is very straight forward and took me 1/2 of a day.

Zip Dee awnings can be purchased from any Zip Dee dealer.

They are shipped to you from their plant near Chicago.

Installation instructions come with them, and it's not a big deal to install them.

Something to think about when installing a Zip Dee--damage from unexpected stress. Over time, I think the upper fittings are a big source of leaks. Tihs applies to the awning rail, also. If you're inclined to remove just a few pop rivets on the interior skin, you can improve the installation significantly.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f442...fix-33935.html

I'd also add either doublers or extra rivets in the awning rail in the 2' closest to each end. I've recovered to Airstreams with awnings and both of them had significant leaks due to rivets being pulled loose on the awning rail and up brackets.

Awning Cost

I have a 25 footer, my cost was about $1400. Installation instructions are included. No special tools (or skill) is needed.

I just put a new awing on my 34' and ordered it directly from Zip-Dee along with a new center support arm. You don't need to go thru a dealer as they are one of the few manufacturers out there that still allow you to order direct. The advantage of ordering direct...The people at Zip-Dee know exactly what you are talking about whereas an Airstream dealer may not have a clue.

A full fledged Zip Dee dealer, that has been an Airstream dealer or Service Center for many years, can also help a Zip Dee buyer, who owns an Airstream.

Additionmally, Zip Dee does not offer discounts.

A few Zip Dee dealers, do offer discounts.
