Smile Zip Dee Awning Arm Bumpers

We have a 2014 International with an Automatic Relax Zip Dee awning. The are Tubus bumpers (ACE Controls TUBUS TR 67-40) that are part of the hinge at the bottom of the complete main arm assembly that due to years of sunlight are now disintegrating. The cost to replace these parts through Zip Dee is about $90 each + s&h (yikes!!). Has anyone been able to find these bumpers from a reputable source at a lower price? Thanks.

Bumper Update

Unfortunately, one hydraulic kept back ordering my order so I ended up canceling and obtaining a refund. I subsequently found a pair on eBay, but they only had two available.

Original bumper discontinued

The replacement is the ZIP DEE PUSH OFF SPRING ASSEMBLY FOR RELAX 12V ELECTRIC AWNING 201240. Mine were dry rotted so I ordered the spring replacement directly from Zip Dee, should have them in a few days. I was told the spring version is better and a direct replacement. Will post picture when installed.

I had to replace an awning arm, and in the process discovered the replacement bumpers. They are indeed a direct replacement—one screw out and one screw in—cost about 1/4 of what the originals do, and work great!

Here is the new replacement bumper

My old bumpers were due for replacing after 8 years of use. These were a direct replacement. Screws and washer were included. I did squirt some sealant into the hole and on the screw itself to hopefully keep it water tight. It took me longer to get out the #3 screwdriver and sealant than to actually remove the old ones and install the new. Quick easy upgrade.

Considering that the old ones were dry rotted and had little rebound left, these do work better and have a good amount of “push” in them to get the awning started. Definitely worth it. I got mine directly from Zip Dee and were cheaper than other sources.
