Zip Dee Attaboy

I bought 2 used zip dee chairs from a WBCCI member. I have no idea how old they are except to say "old". However, they exactly match the blue striped awning fabric on my 1987 Sovereign.

Ordered new fabric for them and when it arrived they were an inch or so short. Zip Dee's service people had assured me there was only narrow or wide and length was not an issue. Apparently these chairs are older than the years of service of the zip dee people who filled my order.

To make a long story short, sent the new covers back with one of the old chair covers, talked to them and they made me new covers to the length of my old chair cover.

Thanks to Zip Dee. Customer service is not dead but then, I did not order them from China.

The folks at Zip Dee are great for sure. My Minuet has the remements of an awing from Carefree of Colorado. I called their customer dis-service dept with a question about repalcement parts so that I could put the orginal awning back on. Their answer was "are you a dealer? We only work with dealers." All I wanted was info so that I could go to a dealer and order the parts. Slow burn here. Called Zip Dee and the receptionest answered all of my questions, sent a PDF on installation and parts for Zip Dee and reminded me that the Minuet has some differences when it comes to installing and parts. Wow, care to guess who's awning I will be ordering?

Royce,

Being a dealer for all of the major RV awning manufacturers, I can tell you that Zip-Dee is the ONLY ONE that will deal direct with the customer. They have been doing that since their inception, and this is why they have such a great reputation for customer service. Another reason is that the company is privately owned and still small, allowing their people the time to deal with customers on a one-to-one basis.

That said, if you still need information on your Carefree, PM me and I'll try to get it for you.

Good on you Lew, and thanks for the offer. I am reminded that this forum has a wealth of talent and information along with many great commercial members. We will be talking when it is time to purchase the Zip Dee.

When I had a problem with my zipdee, I wound up calling the president of the company, James Webb. I was connected to him right away and we talked about my problem. He offered to resolve some of the problems (my fault) at no charge. How many companies do you know that the president will take calls from customers and make things right?

That's the kind of company you like to do business with. Good for Zip Dee.

I must say that is nice to hear. I put new tire on my truck this morning. I had two bad ones one front, one rear. I put a new set on her. A little early but by the time I finish my next cross country trip and back they will need replacing. I will then be moving to Billings. The last thing I need is to be shopping for in the middle of winter in a new town is tires. So back to my story. Even before I got out of my truck, someone was standing beside my truck asking me what they could do for me today. I was out of there in 30 minutes with a full set of tires.

Les Schwab; service is not dead.

Funny thing,

As I was reading your post, I was going to mention Les Schwab. I used them exclusively when I lived in Oregon. Where else can you pull in the drive, and before you even get out of your vehicle, one of their tire tech has run up to you.......that's right folks, they RUN right up to you (all the time) and ask how they can help.

Super friendly, really know their stuff and stand behing what they sell. That's why they are such a success story! And they also treat their employees with RESPECT and pay them a real wage with great profit sharing and bonuses.

A whole lot of companies could benefit greatly from the Les Schwab business model!!

I also have a Zip Dee testimonial: One dark night I put the awning away due to heavy winds. The next morning I found that one of my hook ends had broken.

Called Zip Dee, told them I wanted to purchase a part and was connected to a very nice and informative fellow. He believes that when I put the hook arm down to its store position, I must have hooked it on the wide part of the stud. Then the force of releasing the awning (that last foot, of course) must have cracked it.

So - lesson for me is to be more careful how I put the awning away. And - they are shipping the part to me free of charge!

Love my Zip Dee.

Pat
