Where to buy a Zip Dee?

I'm looking to get a zip dee patio awning next year. I need a 20'er.

I called Zip Dee and they want around $1050 + $200 shipping

Are their any low price leaders out there?

I have done all kinds of work on my trailer myself. Is there any reason I could not do the install of the awning myself?

Thanks for any input!

Tim,
You have the Cadilac of trailers...buy the Zip Dee...Cadilac of Awnings ... BTW I currently have a Care Free and it is not well made at all. A full set of Zip Dee's for my unit is going to set me back about $5k...but I won't be getting them for a while...axles first.

I think Zip Dee is down the street from me....so I'd only spend $200 in gas to get there and back.

All kidding aside, $200 shipping seems a bit high. I mean they don't really weight a lot, but maybe cause it's an awkward size?

The problem is the size. There is a $75 oversize fee for shipping an awning.

First things first. Ask them how there shipping. Then call a local LTL carrier and give them the weight and dimensions. They will probably give you a better rate. Also point to point delivery. If you can arrange to have it delivered to business it is cheaper. Home delivery adds 25% to delivery charge. Robert

Zip-Dee Awnning

Hi Tim,
I have the same 'Stream as you and we have communicated in the past. I also need an awnning. However, I measured the distance between the old mounts on Airabelle--yes, former owner kept the awnning--and I come up with 14' not 20'. Huh? Also--does your quote from Zip-Dee include the arms?

Awning

Tim,
I also have a 23' '71 Safari and Inland RV advised that a 13' awning was correct. What do you think? Ours has not ever had an awning.

My 1979 23' Safari has a ZipDee Awning, it is 11'7" from out side of pole to outside of pole. The rear pole is mounted in front of the water heater and the front pole is mounted in front of the side window, forward of the door.

Thanks for the info Bill.

I know when I called zip dee to start asking about the awning, I told them the model of my trailer and they knew the length. I forgot what they said, it was something like 11' 7/8", which I though was pretty interesting. Now I have to save my pennies for a while to get it

We have a couple of airstream dealers with 50 miles of me. I wonder if I can purchase it from them when I am ready and avoid the shipping fees.

That sounds about right. It definately would not be 20'. Zip Dee knows for sure. I'm pretty sure that quote was complete. I was just wanting a rough estimate so I would know what to exepct and save for.
