Retrofit kit for zip Dee

Has anyone put the retrofit kit on to convert your manual awning to a 12v electric? Worth it?

Also looking for anyone that has tried the retro fit automatic awning on older now wide body. Zip Dee says will not work due to the center arm that will interfere with the door opening. Have considered just leaving off that arm. Expensive gamble.

We have wondered the same thing.

Still looking for real world experience, but I am planning to raise the rail of the awning up to the rivet line for the center roof section. This will raise the awning enough to keep the door from hitting the center support arm, the only reason I have heard as to why "it won't work." That will be about 4-5 inches higher up the side/roof of the trailer, then just fill in the old rivet holes. You will not notice the line of rivets and it will be above the Vista windows to allow better lighting there also.

Seems like an expensive fix for a non problem. Takes less than minute to put mine out or in. Mine does not hit the door when properly raised to the 4th hole on the front most bar.

Agreed. Just one more thing that could break, and it does just take a minute or two to deploy or put away the main awning.

Got a look at the install instructions for the retrofit kit and it seems to be a lot more than I want to take on at this point. Also was told by ZD that Airstream did not preside my AS so that introduces another challenge.
