Relocate awning bracket

Hello, all!

We have a 1983 34' Excella, with five awnings. I'm in the process of replacing the corroded hardware attaching the brackets to the trailer, and I've discovered that on the big curbside awning, one of the screws holding the left side uppermost bracket is stripped (see photo below).

Is there any reason why I shouldn't simply patch the existing holes and move the bracket up or down an inch?

If I do that, does it make any difference whether I move it up, or down?

Finally, if I make this adjustment to the left hand side of the awning, would I need to move the right hand side also?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

Jacob
