We have a 1968 Safari and we're going to make our own awning . We bought heavy Marine sunbrella fabric , three poles from Vintage Supply, but I'm having trouble finding the plastic welting that slides into the channel and is sewn onto the edge of the fabric. Anyone here know of a supplier for this? Also any tips on reinforcement etc from someone who's done this before would be appreciated. Thanks.
Sail repair shop might help. Some sails use the same type of attachment to the mast, The plastic might be something new to me, Hobie sails used rope for the center.

The company who made the new awning for my Overlander supplied 1/4-inch nylon tubing just like you would use to hook up an ice maker in your house refrigerator. It worked like a champ.
