Please help our awning keeps coming out on its own! I have just read the horror stories of it opening going down the road at various speeds. We did make it home safely from the walk through thank goodness. Of course it worked perfectly then. Help we just bought our dream and we leave in less than a week. What can we do to assure that this will not come out driving down the interstate for this trip and is there anything we can do to fix. It's a 22 Classic 30ft. The excitement has quickly been zapped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Find the circuit breaker and shut it off, it should have been part of the orientation, did they not explain the CB functions?
Did you take notes & video at the dealership?
Now may be the time to consult the owner's manual.
Disclaimer...Our Classic is 20yrs old and free of a power awning.

I talk with SOBs owners without Zip Dee awnings and I have yet to have them tell me theirs deployed while moving on the highway. Zip Dees are special.
There is no magical answer to prevent the powered awning from self deploying other than removing it from battery power or pulling the fuse as another poster said. Most of the ones I see have the awning control box unmounted lying on the floor next to a rats nest of wiring. Well, what do you think will happen?
Take the trailer back to the dealer and have them show you where the awning control box is and the fuse. Have them replace the control box with the updated one which others have said is OK.
If you have the updated control box, be sure it is mounted securely to something so as not to be thrown about during travel.
Keep a bag of large zip ties with you at all times. Anytime you are travelling, zip tie the awning to prevent it from opening.
I have the manual awning. It is always zip tied and we do not use it.

I have the power awning. Heed the advice to power off the circuit breaker. Also, be prepared to retract the awning using the jumper wire in the emergency kit. You will need a ladder. Practice once. It isn’t difficult but practice will eliminate doubts.
Thank you all for the advice. We have not had any problem since the two deployments. We made sure it was locked and all seems ok. We are leaving Friday so no go to go to dealership prior will pull the fuse just to make sure. We will address it when we return with dealer. The control box is under the sink and appears to be stable. So needless to say we will be consulting the owners manual quite frequently.
