Airstream now installs an awning rail at the junction of the window sheet and roof sheet on the roadside, this matches the rail install for the patio awning on the curbside. (Not sure of the start date but at least 1994)
As per Airstream this is meant for an optional PATIO awning, AND NOT a window awning.

Good info Greg. People should know that that rail is way too high for a window awning on the street side, and they should install a new, lower rail for a street side window awning.
