New Threads...Zip Dee

Making it personal with 2-down, 2-to go, new Zip Dee Tuxedo Black as we didn't care for the OE striped gray. Sorry, can't figure out why my photos are not oriented properly.

Looks very sophisticated! Bond, James Bond

Rick, very nice! I would have never thought about black but it looks great against the silver. Very sophisticated!

By the way, I found if you crop portrait size photos down to near landscape they appear in the correct orientation.

3 of 4 completed. Just got off the phone with Zip Dee's Tech (who called me from home as they are presently closed due to the pandemic), who provided me his had written procedures for replacing the Relax power patio awning, the last to be changed and one we'll tackle early next week), Must admit, I really like the look of the Tuxedo black against the silver.

I have to admit I like the black awnings, but while you're at it make a large lint roller brush!

Our awnings would pick up so much dust, leaves, and seedpods. You had to stand back from under it while rolling up.

Me, too. Not sure dark awnings are the way to go. Sitting under them in the hot sun, junk that grows or drops on them...tell us how you like them in a couple of years.

We purposely wanted the solid black and think they look great. Heat, yes, they will absorb it but the area underneath them will actually be cooler and far less glare which was another objective.

As far as them collecting dust, leaves, etc, etc, that won't be any more that any other color only we'll see it so we're likely to maintain them a bit more than we would have with the OEM stock striped gray/brown/off-white which we really didn't like color-wise. Also, we're not full-timers and our travels are periodic otherwise the coach is/will be stored inside a fully enclosed climate controlled building.

This has been a 100% DIY project so the cost of changing has been limited to the fabrics of which we direct ordered to spec, from Zip Dee Inc.

We have dark green on our Eddie Bauer, never noticed any heat buildup. Black looks great!

DIY Final Update, Job Completed.

Fabric on all 4-four awnings changed, easy peasy, no issues, just time & patience. This is not as difficult of a job/project as it may seem and anyone who can follow instructions can do this. Cost was 1/5th of what it would have cost to pay an AS Dealer or other RV Service Shop to replace the fabrics.

Have all the OE striped awning fabrics except the 21' Relax Patio Awning (it was torn and part/parcel of the rationale to change).

Available are the rear escape window, roadside bedroom window, and the 17'5 LR/DR and bath window awning + 2-matching Zip Dee Chair covers. All were factory installed on our 2018 Classic M30 RQB. Attached is a photo which shows the OE fabric pattern.
