I installed a new awning yesterday, the whole thing, not just the fabric. Is yours a ZipDee? If so, many of the things I did you will do also. You will not have to add hardware to the trailer, but I did not have to attach fabric to the roller. Take a look at the thread I opened to show the work:

When I put the roll back on to the arms I had the arms on the ground. That made it easy to install. The next step was to raise the roll / arms on to the side of the trailer. When we did that the weight of the roll case made the awning want to unroll. Gravity can be a real pain at times
. I would highly suggest putting a strap around the roll when you raise it to the trailer. Have several step ladders around helps too!
