Need a aluminum tube for my Zip Dee
Freak rain storm came up and dumped so much water on my awning that the tube bent in half. it is beyond the pound out stage. I tried to put a sleeve over it and rivet it but it has to manually rolled up. I need to replace the tube but can't find a 3 inch 17 foot tube. Does anyone have a supplier that is on the east coast?

hmmm,
sounds like you're past this stage - Awnings By ZipDee

given its size, that tube will probably have to come to you via motor freight.
at a guess, and based on my own experience this past August as to the availability of a large Zip Dee part from a dealer, I'd otherwise suggest trying the factory directly, as I did.
otherwise, I'd tell you that I've had generally very good experiences with parts from Colonial Airstream in NJ, and Out of Doors Mart in NC.
best,

also, the parts diagram noted that that tube is 3" 18 ga. galvanized steel, not aluminum, if you're going to try to fabricate the part yourself.
just thinking out loud, depending on where the bend is along the tube vs. the rest of the hardware, you might also be able to cut out a section & patch your bent tube instead? or, could you splint it from the inside with some schedule 40 or 80 plastic tube?

I call zip dee today and they gave me the spec's for the tube and you are correct that it is 18 gauge and steel. I have already taken a 3" dryer sheet tube and rivet it to the out side as a splint but that add to the bulk in the middle which prevents an easy roll up. That is why I have to roll it up manually now. I wonder could the bent section be cut out and another section be welded in?

I don't see why not. Also, it might be stronger instead of welding a piece in the middle to weld a piece to the end.

The bend is right in the middle so I guess i could cut a foot out and weld together then add a foot on the end.

We are scheduled to travel through the Jacksonville area on March 12th. If things work out for you we could possibly pick it up for you on our way back and you could pick it up here in Charlotte.
