make an 'awning shield' for the awnings?

Hello,

While working to seal the exterior of a neglected '95 Excella 30', it seems to me that the awning mounting rails are excellent dirtcatchers and potential funnels for leaks.

I'm considering making continuous full-length awning 'shields' from aluminum coil stock for roof flashing. They would be stuck to the side of the AS a couple of inches above the awning with permanent 3M very high bond sealing tape, and they would extend over the metal awning rollup to shed rainwater, twigs and dirt, but not interfere with its operation.

Has anybody done this?

No, but I love the idea. I’ll be watching this thread.
