Main Awning Will Not Roll Up

Currently at Gulf Shores State Park enjoying spring break.

Went out last nite to bring in the awning as a storm was coming...and, alas, no rollup!

i can handroll it up but it seems to me the spring tension is "locked"?

is this common? do i have to "unload" the spring as others have advised for similar problems on these forums?

need to drive home in a few days!

If you can hand roll up the awning, the roll is not locked. It sounds more like the spring is damaged.

I had the same problem with mine at the start of last year. I thought the same thing about a broken spring. But wishing for the best I sprayed some oil in both ends and worked it back and forth a couple of times anf it got much better. I shot it with silicone spray every time I opened it for the next few outtings and by the end of the summer it was good as new. It might be just that simple.

I was wondering if any one has info on a screen porch assembly for the 10' awning on the Bambi?

well i wish mine was going to be simple, but it was deployed during a windy t-storm and its ceasing of operation was preceeded by a large gust of wind and a loud noise...

Can you let us know where you sprayed the lumber quint? Think I need to go dig out my manuals...
