Is this awning part repairable/replaceable?

Greetings Swingking!

It looks like an awning arm for an A & E awning. There is an outside possibilitiy that the lower half (non-curved) of the arm may be available from A & E. The curved portion, however, is no longer available new so if that is damaged as well you will be looking at finding a replacement in a salvage yard as A & E no longer handles the curved arm section of the awning arm. A & E evidently quit making awnings for Airstreams sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s and has quit supporting any of the pieces for its awnings that were unique to Airstream applications. This is one of the big reasons that I replaced the A & E Travel Awn 5000 on my Overlander a little more than a year ago with a new Zip Dee from Ace Fogdall RV in Cedar Falls, IA.

Good luck with your awning quandry!

Kevin

I also have a travel awn by A&E, and we all should consider ourselves lucky that they stopped making the thing.
I did find odds and ends by browsing the various airstream sites and looking for awning and A&E parts etc. I found new lower brackets, and knobs etc, I believe at MarksRV, other pieces at RV Salvage yards. It took some digging and calling around, but I got what I needed at the end.
If it breaks again, I will get a new awning byt ZipDee from Andy at InlandRV.

I have an arm assembly for an A&E awning that I took off my MH after losing a fight with a construction barracade.

PM me with the awning type and we can see if I have the part you need.

Zip Dee is right down the street from me it turns out. I am going to try to contact them this week to see if they sell parts direct to cut out the middle man and possibly save a few bucks.

I'll post what I find if you all think there is some interest.

coolerow,

I don't remember which salvage yard actually had the parts, I must have called a handful of them. It turns out that none of the salvage yards were in california. My powerbook with all the airstream links got stolen just before christmas, so I lost all that information, but I do remember browsing all the airstream sites, and using the links from these sites to find parts. I wish I could give you a few links and numbers, but it's all gone.
Perhaps Andy at InlandRV could help you? He has a lot of experience, he must know of some salvage yards for airstreams.
Good luck with your search.
