That looks similar to a Carefree awning like the one on my '75 Argosy. Are the arms about 2.5" wide aluminum in a "C" cross-section, with a curve at the top that mimics the curve of your trailer's shell? I'll go hunt a photo of mine.

I didn't find any close-up shots of the awning hardware, but here's a shot where you can see the arms to compare with yours. This is a Carefree of Colorado awning from '75 or '76 when our trailer was still young.

Unless it was removed, a Zip-Dee will have the metal slats covering the fabric. Also, every Zip-Dee I've seen has had a form of cloth as awning material. Yours looks like vinyl.

I do not think a ZipDee. All of my ZipDee awnings have the fabric riveted to a round roller. Your roller has a groove containing a rope edge holder.

That does not look like a ZipDee, if it was a ZipDee the end caps would prominently display it.

That would be too easy to point out!

You have an old Carefree awning, at least the remains of one.

not a ZIPDEE

I knew abut the end caps stamped Zip Dee, I was going on what the previous owner told me that it was. I just now unwrapped it, definitely a Carefree.. I don't know if this thing can be cut down or not, like the Zipdee. If not. I have a good 14 ' carefree that I can not use. thanks for all the help. as usual.. this group is great. Richard

The Carefree can easily be cut to the desired length using a hacksaw.
