Gold plated awnings?

I just got a quote from Lazydays in Minneapolis to add street side and rear awnings to my 23D—$15,000 total. That seems, um, exorbitant to me. The rep said each one would cost $7,500, which seems odd given the size and complexity of the street side awning as compared to the rear awning. If anyone has experience adding awnings, I would love to gain a perspective on whether this is indeed a realistic price.

Dealer Stealer

Considering the awning package is around $1,300.00 if ordered at build time the dealers price is Felony theft.

Check "The 23D" thread. I believe there is a detailed section on the cost and the installation of the streetside and rear window awnings. Cost is south of $2k for both and install is no real big deal. Do it yourself and save $$$$ and learn a new skill in the process. Not real complicated.

Lazydays should be ashamed trying to rip someone off like that.

We just sold our 2017 Int. Serenity 23D a couple of months back that we purchased new with the awning package as a factory option. You will appreciate the awnings. We have them on our new 2019 FC 25 RBT.

If you have not read the entire "23D" thread I highly recommend you do. Some very talented folks.

We live in your area and have scars from when they were known as Shorewood RV You could get a second quote from the Airstream factory service center at Jackson Center. Colonial Airstream in Lakewood NJ also has an excellent reputation.

Feeling better about laughing now

Thanks for the replies on this; I was feeling kind of bad that I reacted to the Lazydays guy with an incredulous laugh. I’m glad you all think it was ridiculous as well. GMFL, that’s a nice offer, and I’ll be in touch; thank you!

I don’t have receipts handy but I had streetside and rear awnings installed at the factory. Parts and labor didn’t exceed $2500 if I recall correctly. $15K? That seems highly off the mark.....

I had road side and rear awnings installed on our 25FB in 2017 at the factory. $2100 and change. Drive to Jackson Center.

Maybe someone typed one zero too many?

Jim

There is a very good chance that they don't want to do the job.

Good grief. I think that price is a little high.

I assume you want manual awnings. Did you check with the source that they are not quoting for motorized awnings?

Cost of the awnings was ($892.00 for the street side and $308.00 for the rear) $1200.00 plus $286.00 freight

With all the little things like labor, caulk, and tool use the Jackson Center price of $2100 seems fair.
