Awning stuck in lock

Hi everyone, we're camping in our 2020 Classic 30' in Milton, FL (hot as hades). Last night, the awning retracted by itself while we were going to sleep. This morning, it says "locked" on the Czone and the App. I can't get it to unlock via pressing the two "tilt" buttons and it won't open or close. I checked fuses and breakers, and did a battery disconnect. Also searched the forums, youtube, and called Airstream Tech (which was a waste of time) with no results.

Any ideas for me? This is really impacting my "cigar time" under the awning. :-)

Thanks,
John

Probably the best place to call is Zip Dee. If it is a Zip Dee awning.

Don’t have a solution for ya but ours (2022 30 RBQ) has been flaky as ###***#.

Had the whole unit replaced early on and have had multiple gas struts installed along with a new board that got wet when the dealer was washing the trailer 🤦🏻*♂️

Going back next week for yet another gas strut replacement. The “Relax” awning has been anything but “Relaxing “.

Good luck to ya!!!

Bummer. Any luck yet?

One item to check is the awning controller which is located under the sink. You have to pull out the bottom drawer and it should be sitting on the floor. Check all the wiring connections, as they are prone to coming loose.

In a Jam

Could something have caused the awning to jam when it was rolling up? Like a pine cone or a branch on top that did not fall off?

It may want to work but isn't able to overcome the extra pressure caused by the jam. My (manual) awning catch is very hard to release when awning is out of alignment.

If it rained the night before your awning rolled up, water weight on the awning may have bent the roller enough to jam it.

Any resolution of this?

My 2022 25FB Globetrotter is now having a similar problem with the Zip Dee awning. The last time I retracted it, it coned a little and seems to have jammed shut. Now it will not deploy.

Fuse good and the control board looks fine. Just stuck tight. Relax awning has been nothing but stress.

I suspect some small something has fallen onto your awning and then jammed the mechanism as you rolled it up.

Mine has been stuck this way for a couple of years, for this reason.

I need to get someone on a ladder to remove debris, but just haven’t gotten to it.

Other than waiting years for whatever is in there to disintegrate, I think this is the only solution.

I don't have C-zone, but my relax was actin up a couple weeks ago. I did find the main cable to my control board was loosey goosey. I unplugged that puppy, counted to 29, plugged it back in, and for now, I'm relaxed

^This happened to us, too. Unplugged everything from the control board. Plugged everything back in. It worked.

Have you tried to open the awning using the emergency kit that has clamps for the battery? Polarity one way to open. Reverse polarity to close. Polarity being which clamp goes to which post (pos/neg) on the battery.

Also recommend you call Zip Dee. Talk to Randy if you can. He spent an hour with me on the phone to resolve a very tricky issue that even he had not encountered.
