Awning separating from trailer

Anyone have the problem of their awning separating from the trailer ? We have a 27' 2014 International. We took it on a couple trips, and it seemed to have a little difficulty expanding out, and this last time it didn't. We noticed that it has came apart from the trailer about a foot and half or so from the front. Hopefully it is under warranty, we will be taking it in next week to where we purchased it, NW Airstream in Gladstone, Oregon. Just curious if anyone has had this problem? It is a Zip Dee...

Is the riveted metal rail coming off of the trailer or is the cloth living hinge that goes between the rail and first awning cover slat pulling out?

that wouldnotbe a possibility in my skills. it should be under warranty. the dealer needs to fix so they have a history of the problem. make it their problem

Sounds like it wasn't riveted properly. Maybe it was the end of a shift and they forgot to finish up the next morning.
Dealer should definitely fix if it's a '14 model.

The quality control @ the factory is lousy. Mine a 2015 has already sprung a leak on one of the drains underneath for the plumbing. I took it off and got a new one @ home depot and then compared them side by side and guess what ? the one that leaked was made from inferior metal . the new one was made in Italy and the one I took off must have been made in China or India. It was made crap ....the metal had a crack in it. The fan is another item that sucks. I called the factory and told them about the noise it makes and the guy didn't seem to care. He blamed it on Dometic because he said the fan came with the fridge. The latch came off on the closet door. I haven't even gone camping in it yet and problems arise every time I go inside to educate myself with all the devices. Have a great day

Given the year, by any chance is it an electric awning? Could be a whole different "kettle of fish"

Did the awning begin to deploy with the arms telescoping out and stop under a strain? If so the motor may have failed and the arm extension may have pulled the rivets out. If your awning has not had the newest controller installed it is very likely it caused the motor to fail.

I had the same issue with my electric awning on my 2014. zip Dee sent me a new controller, the motor was fine, the connection to the motor failed, I have yet to replace the four rivets pulled out from the rear of the awning but have silicon sealed the area damaged to prevent water infiltration
