Awning repair

Accidentally tore about a 3 - 4 inch slice in our awning when retracting. It's where the center pole connects, near the outer edge. Have researched some repair options - has anyone had luck with clear RV repair tape ? Getting mixed messages on reviews in Amazon - particularly XFasten RV Awning tape.

Are there better options than tape out there? Awning is in great shape otherwise. 1994 Excella 34'.

Thanks

Thumbs up

I have pur. sunbrella from Sailrite prices very good. I would pur small piece matching fab. then hand stitch patch using clear nylon thread. IMO tape patch not nice nor long lasting repair.

I also bought a small swatch of matching fabric and used fabric cement for several small patches. Wish I could recall the brand of fabric glue; it’s held up well for 5-6 years.

Had a hole in a previous awning. Zipdee sent me some matching material which I made a patch. I attached the patch with silicone sealer based on their recommendations. The patch was doing great many years later when the trailer sold.

Awesome ideas, thanks. Will find matching fabric and go that route.

We had a small hole from wear. I contacted ZipZee and they sent me a scrap of fabric that matched the color, and I used some waterproof fabric glue that I got at the local hardware store. That was 5 years ago and it is still holding.

Talk with Linda at Zip Dee. (800) 338-2378
She is the expert on everything Zip Dee.
Actually I think she's the de-facto historian of Zip Dee.
IMHO.
