awning rail pulling away

My awning rail is trying to detach from the skin...meaning about the railing has come loose from the back to about half way up the airstream. The rivets appear to have broken off and not pulled away a hole. I'd like to re-attach but I don't know what rivets I should use...how big they should be and where to get them. I'm not a purist, so I'm okay with regular rivets that I have to seal. Any advise on the process of reattaching the railing is welcome too. Thanks!

I'd Just Call Vintage Trailer Supply. Tell them whats happening and they'll send you the right rivets.

You can only use Olympic rivets to refasten the awning rail.

If you want to use buck rivets, you would have to gut a lot of the interior.

With the Olympics use some Vulkem sealer with them.

Send a message via Skype™ to Melody Ranch
Replace the rivets with #8 or #10 stainless pan head screws., with vulcum sealant....635 is good.

Is it possible to use a larger pop rivet?

I wouldn't do that. Pop rivets are not necessarily for applications that require strength since they are hollow. That awning rail is subjected to quite a bit of force.

Outdoors mart lists the rivets that are used to attach the zip dee awnings. Check out their website. And get some of the Temp pro (vulkum sealant).
