Awning parts wanted
Hi everybody!
Working on my 74 Argosy 26' trailer. Almost ready for paint. I will post before & after pics soon! I'm getting the awning parts organized for re-assembly. I have a Care-Free 16' awning with curved arms and the roller endcaps have the 3 rivet configuration. No model or serial numbers anywhere so I'm not sure of its age. I've attached two pics of the inside of the arms showing the sliding lock or latch. One of these is missing. Does anyone out there have any parts like this? This latch slides up and down inside the arm. Thanks, Dave

You could try PPL and see if they have anything - if nothing else they might let you know if it's even still available.

Hi Dave. A belated welcome to the forums! Gary is steering you to a good source. They're right at the top searching Google for 'carefree awning parts.'
I'm not sure about parts this age. Carefree is still in business and I've heard that they have the fabric available for their old awnings. Might double check that for accuracy.
Here is the operating manual - http://www.airforums.com/photos/brow...00&userid=6410

Awning parts
Thanks Bob for the manual! Very interesting indeed! I feel much more confidence in moving ahead with fabric replacement.
Thanks to Levon for offering a replacement part!
Great forum and great people!!!
Here is a pic of the 74 Argosy when I found her last fall. Kinda forlorn sitting in that field. When I brought her home my daughters said "Oh look! Daddy has brought home the Wienermobile!" So we now refer to her as the Wienermobile!
Hope she likes her "new look" coming soon!

Hi,
Sorry to jumping in an old thread but I have the same problem you has at this time.
I'm looking for awning parts and I was wondering if you have found a reliable source.
Regards

Awning parts
Hi Pierre!
The best way is to post a "looking for parts" post and if possible include a pic of the part(s) or the location of the part needed. There are a lot of pieces & parts out there and maybe someone will respond with the right one like they did for me!

Well, I'm going to jump on this bandwagon & see if anyone can tell me if my daughter's awning is missing pieces. We managed to get it up, but I'm not sure if it's right. I doesn't have a strap on it & I can't see a place to slide one in. The awning is a Carefree, that much I know. I think it's missing a piece on the end. Is the nut that it's resting on actually a stop? Here are some pictures:

Hey Becky,
The "Nut" mounted in the track is a stop. We have the same setup on both rigs. There's a pdf copy of the installation and owner's manual floating around here somewhere that may help.

There's a copy of the manual in post #3 above and a version here as well.

Hi,
You must have or bought a lynchpin like the ones on the attached picture
It goes in the hole at the bottom of the small leg (as in your second photo) and you must find the corresponding hole in the main awning leg.
Sorry I'm 400 miles of my trailer and can't take a picture right now
Hope this helps

I see the holes near the bottom of the main arm. Do you put the lynchpins in after you have the awning open? It doesn't look like the cross arms are short enough to leave it in all the time.
It looks like we're missing a travel lock. Are they still available?
(thanks for the instruction manuel link!)
