At each end of the awning, you will find a round wheel, about 2 inches in diameter. That holds the awning in place. You must back off that wheel, by turning it counter-clockwise, and then tilting it so that it's out of it's mounting hole.
Then, grab the pull down strap, and pull outwards.
That should let you pull the awning out.
