Awning Must Come Off - How?

I am chasing down a nasty leak to the right side of the door on our "78" Ambassador. The floor is soaked. Everything outside looks sealed...can't see all of vista window due to awning. It has to come off anyway because it is torn. How hard is it to remove the awning? Will remove when snow melts and we thaw out next week. Thanks!

Sorry Andy...should have posted the type of awning. It is Zip Dee.

Pull the awning down, set the tension rafters.
Have a step ladder handy, about the height of the awning not elevated.
Remove the 1/4 x 20 bolt from the REAR elevation arm, CAREFULLY as it's under tension. Keep hold of this arm. Leave the tension rafter set.
Support the roller tube on the step ladder, or have someone rest it on their shoulder.
Rotate the loose elevation arm 18 turns counterclockwise, this will unwind the tension in the awning spring.
Reattach the elevation arm.
Manually roll the tube to it's top position.
Remove 2 screws from each end of the slat casing, each on the same slat.
Slide the slat out of the casing
Tape the awning up so it won't unwind.
Lower to the ground and remove the ends from the tube.
Find an 18' table to work on it, now you have the roller tube of the trailer.
When you replace the fabric do not attach the rivets holding the fabric to the tube until you have the awning back on the trailer and extended.
Once thats done you will need to wind the spring 28 turns, (when you install a new awning it winds itself 10 turns as you roll it down)

We just got through taking our awning frame off and it's laying in the yard bout 40 feet away...we took it off one screw at a time, and the tarp had been cut away from it. I realized that there is the old fashioned way of having an affordable awning just using the channel that runs down the trailer and are having a new one made with the welp cord. This awning frame does not have a maker name on it (anywhere!) if you want it call me at 580-318-4432 and I will see your number and call you back thru skype phone. We are in Altus Okla. I will see if I can post a few pictures. It works, we just cut the old tarp from it, has all the parts. I 'think' its a seventeen footer. just call.
