Awning help, What's this????

I would like to use a pole awning with my 68 Overlander. There is some kind of channel (maybe for an awning?) on the curb side. Can anyone identify this channel and how it was used? I'm trying to attach a picture, but I don't know if it's working.

Yep, that's a awning rail...looks perfect to me! We have one just like it and have added a pole awning.
