Mine doesn't hold any puddle when dropped 2 notches. I always use the center rafter though.

.45 inch is a lot of rain. And I agree that local can be much different. Best practice is to always retract and I plan to follow that for sure. Too many people have stories telling what happens when they thought it was safe, only to wake up to a destroyed awning.

In addition to lowering one end of the main awning, our Zip-Dee has 3 metal gromets in the fabric near the tube to help drain water..... seems like a good idea to me....

I was going to mention the grommets because I have seen them on a couple of older AS Zip Dees, but thought they may have been added by the owners.
