Is it possible to shorten a zip dee awnning for a shorter airtream.

Yes, just shorten the tube and have the fabric shortened. A word of caution though, if it's a patio (curbside) awning only cut the front as the back has a dimple a certain length from the end to stop the awning spring from unwinding.
