A&E awning will not unfurl

On the road, New Orleans, 1998 Safari 23 awning won't open. Have not used awning for about a year, was working fine until now. Will only unroll several inches, seems to have tension with lever up/down. No one else at this campsite with same vintage awning to look at. Can not pull awning drum away from the top of the trailer. Any ideas?

Are the travel latches on the arms released?

The straps are released and rafter arm knobs are loose.

We had sort of a similar problem with an A&E awning on one of our coaches, and it turned out to be wear. I unlatched the handles that allow the arms to be extended, and lifted up slightly, while pulling out on the awning. It unfurled with that little bit of extra persuasion.

Stopped at Reliable RV Center in Biloxi, MS. Very friendly folks. Even though we arrived at the mechanics lunch break, they looked at the awning right away. Fixed it in about 10 minutes. The rolled pins at the top bracket attached to the trailer act as stops for the support arms. Some how they had become stuck in a cut out in the top of the support arms adjacent to the pins. Had to move both support arms toward the center of the drum to get them out of those cut outs. Working fine now. thanks for the replies. Onwards thru the fog (Florida Keys).
