'67 Overlander - Manual or Info on Awning

Dear Forum,

On our '67 Overlander, Somehow our awning did roll back up correctly and now its stuck (in rolled up position).

Does anyone have a manual or link to where I can find info on the Awning assembly works on this AS?

I "think" its looking like Im going to have to take it off the AS and repair it somehow.

Any suggestions welcomed

Best Regards,
Billy

Hard to say, not knowing what manufacturer/model you have. Based on the age, it could be an A&E or Carefree awning, or maybe it was installed much later in life, and is a more modern item. So look for maker's logos, or at least post a picture of it here, and i would imagine someone can tell you exactly what you have.

When you say that it didn't roll up correctly, what do you mean? Incorrectly how?

For the Carefree and A&E awnings, there is basically a spring inside the awning tube, with a ratcheting mechanism at the arm. You pull it out using the webbing strap with the ratchet lever in the "unroll" position, and when you are ready to roll it up again, you hold onto the webbing, flip the lever to the "roll-up" position, and the spring does the work of winding for you.

So...if you let the awning roll up and take the webbing up inside of it so that it isn't visible anymore, you will need to put the lever into the unroll position, and then get up on a ladder in the middle of the awning tube, and manually rotate/unroll the awning until the webbing is visible again.

good luck!
