The switch you refer to interrupts the ability for the power awning to open while in motion. Ours opened while stationary, so not sure what the issue is. On the same front, every RV has challenges, we were camped behind a $750,000 coach, his awning opened going thru downtown Atlanta.
Enjoy.

After talking to many awning owners we decided against it when we order and picked up our 2018 30 ft Serenity. No worries, I learned how to put up and take down the awning in less than four minutes--one less worry. The saddest thing we heard was folks never using the power awning for fear it would not retract. Zee dee should be held accountable for a higher standard, when SOB's do it for so many dollars less and they work. We are thrilled with our Serenity, worth all the homework, going into our 6th year and still loving the "Stream".

Actually Zip Dee blamed Air Stream for our issues as Airstream made the decision to put the operation of the awning thru the Firefly and not use the Zip Dee switch.

First day of service, faulty controller to blame for self opening at 4am in campground, but nothing definitive. New controller put in, and cut off switch mounted to eliminate power to the awning controller whenever we want. But back in JC Terraport awning not operating as it should. We will discuss with technician during tomorrow's service for a few other minor things, except the "never-lube" bearings, two of which have leaked and now need replacing as do brakes. Actually all should be checked once per year. Great service at JC.

I’m really surprised to hear that you have two bearing failures and need new brakes with a 2017 Classic. A bearing failure on the road would be nasty, as virtually nobody carries the cartridge type bearings. They have to be ordered. (I carry one spare bearing with me, “just in case.”) If you think of it, ask your tech (and they ARE awesome at JC!) why you need brake repairs on such a new trailer.

Already went over everything concerning this issue. The seals on the two road side bearings broke and leaked all over the brakes. Thus new bearings and new brakes as the bearing "fluid" ruined the brakes. As to failure we have no idea when it occurred, but no axle damage. I agree, the technicians and entire staff here at JC are great. We have full confidence in bringing our trailer here.

Forgot, my actual brakes on both sides show very minimal ware.

I suspected it might be lube contamination on the brake shoes (which means replace them). So much for not worrying about wheel bearings! Thanks for closing the loop!

Actually our brake tech recommends checking for this issue at least every year.

Service done, two full days, some things we wanted done and paid for. Awning works fine now, Alde drained and refilled sitting in Terraport warm and cozy. Cut off switch put on front entry wall so I know no power is going to the awning control board. Each time I come here more impressed with the attitude, professionalism and work ethic of the employees. Took the tour three times, learned something each time and we've been doing this for 45 years.
