Windex

I have an '04 Bambi 19'. Recently I have been using windex on the aluminum to clean it up. I was wondering if this is a bad idea, if the windex will in any manner damage the finish on the trailer.

I would use a car detail spray like Meguir's or similiar before I'd use Windex. The other sprays do better on the clearcoat

The dealer I picked up my A/S from specifiacalled mentioned windex as one of the cleaners to NOT use on the aluminium exterior. They had an array of cleaners and waxes in the parts department they recomended for use. I will get the names of the products and post them.

You should not use Windex~
The recomended product to use on your new Airstream is:
Walbernize Cleaner and Glaze, is sold thru Airstream dealers~
Hope this helps you~

Windex and most other window cleaners have ammonia in them and ammonia reacts very negatively with aluminum. One of the quicker ways to dissolve (corrode) aluminum is to use an ammonia solution. Even Brasso has ammonia in it so it should never be used to polish aluminum.

As they say in the UK..(Been watching too many Cash In the Attic...lol)
Bob,
SPOT ON~!
One of the best ways to determine whats in the make up of any product, is to grab the MSDS sheet for that product. In this, talking an Airstream product, the company has taken the guess work out of the process years ago~! You really don't need to be reinventing the wheel here~!
lol, just spend your money for the right product and, keep your A/S happy~!
BTW, this stuff is not that expensive~I've seen it priced range from 13$ to 16$ dollars a pop.

What about the interior walls of the CCD models? They don't have the white walls - and I was curious as to how people keep that clean. The Airstream rep told me to use Pledge.

Is that what others use?

Cheers!
